I've been checking around a while after starting to work with Unreal Development Kit ( UDK ).
To be honest, UDK is not the easy engine in the world and even if the qualities are very good it can be very difficult to setup a project the way I imagine...
At the beginning all seems beautiful, but after a while I realized that this engine was not meant for what I need...and don't forget that the license conditions are insane...you have to pay really too much to Epic to develop with this engine...
So I've checked around and I found a brand new engine that comes from a very long experienced team that is garage games. They eventually made Torque3D, that I bought last month...nice engine, cool features but a pain in the ass regards shading, that is one of the most important thing in my work...basically if you don't know how to code you're screwed...and I don't...so I'm practicing a bit with it, but the shading is really poor...I can buy a shader pack for 30$, it seems a good deal, but the overall quality is not what I'm aiming for...so...
UNITY 3D
Yes, after been evaluating this engine for a long time, and since they release a free version of this software, I'm starting to work with it and I'm enjoying it! its really easy to use, its interface is simple and intuitive, the import from XSI finally works the way I want ( it finally keep at least the diffuse maps, even if there are multi materials ), so right now I'm really happy!
Now I'm re-doing the scene that I previously done for my demos, since there are lots of things that I want to change, so in a bit I'll upload some new demos...and the most important thing is that it has web player support!
Stay tuned
